Wells Fargo Leads the Way
$2500 donation is first major gift to Red Cross wildfire response |
As the Red Cross continues to solicit financial donations for its response to the Trigo Wildfire, Wells Fargo wanted to show their support in a big way. "We are reaching out to help our neighbors, friends, families and customers who have been adversely affected by the Trigo fire," said Greg Winegardner, regional president for Wells Fargo in New Mexico. "We want to commend the staff and volunteers of the American Red Cross on their efforts to help members of our community in what can often be a difficult time of recovery."
Donations are beginning to come in to the local Red Cross both for the Trigo fire as well as some to replenish the chapter's local Disaster Relief Fund. "Our local fund is what we use to respond to disasters both large and small" says Cindy Adams, CEO of the Mid-Rio Grande Chapter. "It's important that that fund is adequate enough to ensure we're ready when the time comes"
Although not a government agency, the Red Cross is mandated by Congress to provide disaster relief and recovery assistance to those impacted by natural and man made disasters. Only through the generosity of the American people can that work continue.

Identify two ways to escape from every room in your home

Check your smoke alarm and change the batteries if necessary
-
Make sure everyone knows how to dial 9-1-1
-
Select a safe location away from home where your family can meet after escaping
-
Never return into a burning building once you've escaped
